A well-designed corporate calendar is one of the most quietly powerful marketing assets your business can produce. The Four Calendar Formats
Wall Calendar
Large, monthly format. Hung in offices, kitchens, kopitiams and clinics. Perfect for businesses targeting families, retail customers and high-walk-in environments. Format: typically A3 or 12 × 18 inches.
Desk Calendar (the corporate workhorse)
Small flip or stand-up format that sits at eye level on a desk. The dominant corporate gifting format in Malaysia for one reason: every recipient has a desk, every desk has space, and every workday begins with a glance at the date. Format: typically 8 × 6 inches with Wire-O binding.
Pocket Calendar
Wallet-sized cards or small booklets given to a wide audience — bank customers, retail visitors, takeaway customers. Lower per-unit cost, broader distribution.
Bespoke Calendar (the premium option)
Custom-format calendars with original photography, illustration or commissioned artwork. Hardcover, perfect-bound, foiled — these become collector's items, kept long after the year ends. Reserved for premium brands and high-touch client relationships.
Designing a Calendar That Earns Its Place
1. The grid is sacred. Don't overdesign it.
The single most common mistake is designing a beautiful calendar that's hard to read. Days of the week clearly labelled, dates large and high-contrast, weekends and public holidays visually distinguished. The grid is the product; everything else is decoration.
2. Include Malaysian public holidays correctly.
This sounds obvious. It is missed surprisingly often. Federal holidays, state holidays for your client's state (Johor's holidays differ from Kuala Lumpur's), Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Wesak — all need to be accurate, dated correctly per the official Malaysian government list, and labelled in both Bahasa Malaysia and English where applicable.
3. Place your branding where it belongs.
Subtle, persistent branding works better than aggressive branding. A small logo and tagline on the bottom of each month's spread is enough. Recipients will remember the gift; they don't need to be reminded who gave it on every glance.
4. Use the back-of-month for value.
Empty space behind each month's spread is gold. Use it for monthly tips, recipes, photography, motivational quotes, or business-specific reference content (a delivery schedule for a logistics company, opening hours for a retail chain, a service-of-the-month feature). Make the calendar useful, not just visible.

Production Timelines
Corporate calendar projects move on a predictable annual rhythm:
- August - September: Design brief, concept development, holiday list confirmation.
- October: Final design, proofing, paper selection.
- November: Production. We typically run calendar projects in two- to four-week production windows in November.
- Early-to-mid December: Distribution to clients.
Calendars distributed in early December are remembered. Calendars that arrive in January are forgotten. If you haven't started by the end of October, you're already late — but we will still try our best to make it happen.
Realistic Costs
- Pocket calendar (printed both sides): RM 1.50 - RM 3.50 per piece (1,000+ qty).
- Wire-O desk calendar: RM 8 - RM 18 per piece (250-500 qty).
- Wall calendar (12 pages, premium stock): RM 15 - RM 30 per piece (250-500 qty).
- Premium hardcover bespoke calendar: RM 45 - RM 120 per piece, depending on finishing.
Beyond Calendars: The Year-End Corporate Gift Suite
For premium client tiers, we often pair the calendar with one or two other items: a foil-stamped notebook, a leather-bound diary, a small box of branded merchandise. The whole suite ships in a custom gift box.
